National Animal Pathogen Study and Research Project
The objectives:
Isolate and classify bacterial, viral and parasitic pathogens affecting animals, poultry and fish.
Establish a bank to collect and preserve isolated strains for appropriate use in the future.
Compare the local isolated strains with the international ones genetically to be used in determining disease epidemiology.
Attempt to produce local vaccines with global specifications for certain strains and compare them with the imported vaccines, and produce some reagents and rapid tests to diagnose diseases in accordance with the international requirements and practices.
Establish scientific foundations to asses imported vaccines and the locally produced.
Transfer knowledge and capacity-building in the field of laboratory diagnosis and vaccine production and evaluation.
