National Plant Genetic Assets Project and Seed Bank

The objectives:

• Developing the scientific, technical, administrative and executive capabilities of the working cadre in the field of conservation of plant genetic resources.
• Establishing a modern database on plant genetic resources.
• Establish a genetic conservation banks to strengthen the protection and management of plant genetic resources.
• Update data and monitor changes in the genetic resources of food and agriculture.
• Coordinate with national institutions of relevance to follow-up programs for managing, protecting and conservation of plant genetic resources.
• Apply modern technology to meet the challenges that face genetic resources especially in the field of breeding and plant adaptation to climate change.
• Keep-up and apply international conventions and treaties related to genetic biodiversity especially plant genetic resources.
