National Project for Study and Research of Scorpion Toxins

The objectives:

• Conduct a questioner to determine the prevalence of scorpion bites and the rate of prevention arranged in Libya.
• Classify the local scorpions and know their scientific classification and types.
• Identify the local toxins by extracting it from scorpions.
• Asses the quantity and quality of poison extracted.
• Assess the level of toxity.
• Attempt to produce serums locally and compare them with the imported serums in order to potentially substitute them with the local ones.
• Reduce the risk of scorpion bites to reduce the rate of deaths resulting from it.
